Like a car smashing into a gelatinized tasty paste

“I've seen the Kardashians, I've seen the Great Wall of China, but there is no thickness like that of a bowl of hummus.” — Mark Twain Whether true or not, the wise Doctor Twain (fake doctor + fake quote) was on to something. Trying this hummus reminded me of the classic party game of trying to eat 10 Club crackers in 60 seconds. Impossible. The mouthfeel of this puppy was like what I imagine wrestling a crocodile underwater feels like. I fought and fought and gasped for air and finally achieved the well-earned gulp of victory. Feeling satisfied I metaphorically slayed this beast, with her sitting comfortably in my esophagus, I went for a second dip (two dips, everybody knows the rules...). This is a 5-dip-max hummus, with me calling uncle after the 5th dip and running to momma (conveniently, she happened to be seated right next to me). Despite being with the 'rents, this was not a hummus of Ima or Safta. Each bite was tahina-packed and caused approx 10% lip puckering. To be clear, I never said I didn't like it, and it was a nice hummus. I'd almost compare it to the chutzpadik Israeli you meet who wants nothing to do with you but whom you still think is cute. Now folks, I know you're ready to write me a nasty email now (hate mail preferred) and say, “I thought this was a hummus blog, not a steak restaurant blog.” As I stand by, I don't see color, and brown steak is just as tasty as creamy white hummus. For all you kids out there, this is a lesson that sometimes diamonds are found in the roughest places. Here specifically, this is somewhere between a diamond and cubic zirconia. The Mifgash Hasteak brand used to sell their products to the sophisticated (in name only) American consumers. I can't say I'm surprised they stopped based on today's performance, but this is still a working mans hummus. The Management note the place has been around for 65 years in the same spot with the same recipe. Come for the shippudim and, as a bon-nooce (bonus spoken in an Israeli accent), you can order the hummus as well.
