A Taste of Home

Laser Wolf photo 1
Walking into Laser Wolf, this place screams Tel Aviv. I think my shirt naturally lost 3 buttons and my imaginary chest hair began to grow as I entered the premises. With skyline views overlooking Manhattan and a sexy feeling in the air, this Michael Solomonov masterpiece is a place to see and be seen. I had the pleasure of being joined by one of my Israeli Friends, visiting another poor soul who hasn't made his way back to the motherland yet (me). We started off with the complimentary (+ refillable) Salatim platter. When the waiter confirmed it was refillable I almost had to excuse myself because my mouth was watering too much. The Hummus was placed in the center, flocked by a mountain of its brothers and sisters protecting her. Let me tell you folks - she surely can handle her own and didn't need any protecting. When you go to a Chinese buffet and pass by 20+ main dishes, you're not expecting the Salmon to be something to write home about. But here, despite the litany of root and pickle-dominated sides, the Hummus shined. The flavor was super light with no bitterness and a great texture / smoothness. As per usual, I wish they didn't drown the baby with the bathwater (too much olive oil) but man this was lovely. If you're ever in the Tristate area - consider a visit.
